As of August 25,2015, we are now required by the state of Pennsylvania to obtain clearances on all volunteers who will be in direct contact with children.  This includes adults applying for or holding an unpaid position as a volunteer with a child care service, school, activity, program or service responsible for the child's welfare.  All prospective volunteers who will volunteer at events such as dances, field trips and field day must obtain the following certifications:

  1. Report of criminal history from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) http://epatch.state.pa.us/Home.jsp
  2. Child Abuse History certification from the Department of Human Services (Child Abuse) www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis.
  3. Additionally, a fingerprint based federal criminal history (FBI) submitted through the Pennsylvania State Police is needed if the volunteer has lived outside the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the last 10 years. http://www.pa.cogentid.com/index.htm
  4. Disclosure Statement for volunteers under the Forms tab.

The fee for the above clearances is $0.  All volunteers will be required to obtain these certifications every 60 months.

Individuals seeking clearances can go directly to:   www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis

Completed clearances will be kept on file in the school office.  If you need help obtaining clearances you can contact the CWIS support center at 1-877-343-0494 or you can visit www.KeepKidsSafe.pa.gov.

Parents who plan on volunteering at PTA events, where chaperones are required and homeroom parents, are required to have a copy of clearances at the school office.  When obtained, please bring your copy of clearances to the school office.
